Romp n’ Roll Kicks Off “Week of the Young Child” With Music Monday!

Enjoying music during Babies Class at Romp n' RollThis week Romp n’ Roll is celebrating the Week of the Young Child! The annual celebration hosted by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) celebrates early learning, young children, their teachers and families. Today is Music Monday!

What we know is that music is the result of movement, therefore, music is movement – they go hand in hand! How may times have you seen someone driving down the highway with their head moving up and down and their hands tapping the steering wheel? How many times have you been somewhere with your child when a song comes on and causes he or she to bend their knees, bob their head, or shake their hips? Playing the drums at Romp n' Roll! This happens all of the time and that is because music is a physical event! What we also know is that not only do children LOVE music, it helps their brain develop and encourages learning! At Romp n’ Roll, our teaching philosophy is that music is rooted in movement and our Tumble Tunes music class is the perfect combination of the two! One of the musical elements that we focus on at Romp n’ Roll is rhythm. Music brings out the happy! We are rhythmic beings. Anything that is essential to our existence is done to a rhythm: walking, talking, breathing, chewing, and swallowing are all functions that need rhythm. Of course our heart beats to a rhythm and we run, walk, skip, hop, and jump all to a rhythm. When you walk down the street talking on your cell phone think about all of the different rhythms that you have going at once: Heartbeat, Speech, Breath, Walking. Sometime, observe the people around you. You will notice that everyone has their own internal rhythm – they will walk, talk, and chew to that rhythm.  For some that rhythm is really fast, for others it is slow. EVERYONE HAS RHYTHM! So the next time someone asks you to dance you can no longer say “no” and use the excuse “I have no rhythm!”.Music at Romp n' Roll is fun!
