The Unique Advantage of Art
There are many reasons why I recommend enrolling a child in an Art class at Romp n’ Roll. Most of those reasons are relevant to other classes as well. But there is one that is virtually unique to the art programs.
The fact is that art has the special role in education of helping children become more like themselves instead of more like everyone else. In other words, in addition to helping kids develop competence, confidence, knowledge, skill, etc., art encourages them to develop their individuality.
Think about it. In almost every other endeavor where
children are learning the basics, they have to spend a lot of time imitating what others have done before they can start doing their own thing. But with art they quickly get to go wherever their personal will or whimsy chooses to take them.
So as you watch your little one scribble, paint, squish, and so on, you can derive pride and joy not only from the beautiful product she is creating but also from the totally unique person she is becoming.
